Sadly, we didn't get a picture after staining the new hardwood dowels to match the rest of the rattan. Hardwood is much stronger than rattan, which over time gets brittle, as evidenced by this couch. The main support was made of either balsa or albezia sapwood, making it prone to cracking. We replaced this piece with super hard and durable bamboo plywood.
